Blanca is part of the high fertile plain of the Segura River and its landscape shows a contrast between the lush fruit orchards and the abundant unirrigated semi-desert land. The town is overlooked to the northeast by the Sierra del Solán at 556m in height, and to the south by the Sierras Ricote and Oro. To the east is the Sierra de la Pila.It was in 713, with the arrival from the Arab conquest, that we can verify human presence in Blanca. The first testimony states the remains of the castle in the 11th/12th centuries, being known then as la Negra due, to the colour of the the mountain on which there was the fortified building and the nucleus of the population.
